On behalf of the 1st Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Semmelweis University it is my pleasure to invite you to the 1st Central- Eastern European Symposium  on Free Nucleic Acids in Non-Invasive Prenatal Diagnosis.
The recent advances in free nucleic acid research give  great opportunity and reason to introduce them to the clinical practice. We have invited several world famous scientist from this field to share their knowledge with Central-Eastern Eurpean researchers and clinicians.

Budapest is one of the most exciting cultural and touristic centers in Central Europe. The River Danube determines basic orientation, with Buda on the hilly west bank and Pest on the plain east bank. Surveying Budapest from the embankments or the bastions of Castle Hill, it is easy to see why the city was dubbed the “Pearl of the Danube”. In Buda, the Castle District with the Royal Palace and Matthias Church, as well as the Gellért Hill with the Citadel are part of the World Heritage.

We are also proud to invite you to our nearly 200-year-old University Department, housed in the historical Baross Street building. In spite of the retained venerable exterior, the requirements of the 21st century are fully met in its recently rebuilt interior. Ignac Semmelweis, the "Savior of Mothers" was the director of the Department between 1855 and 1865. His spirit and commitment for the sake of mothers and their unborn and newborn children are acknowledged worldwide, and are immortalized in the name: Semmelweis University.

We look forward to giving you the unforgettable memory of an enlightening symposium and the sincere, warm welcome of our people and city.
